Gold earrings on men may come as a surprise to some people. Ministry experience has shown on occasions that this practice can bring men - or can indicate that men are already - into a measure of spiritual bondage. I remember on one occasion witnessing an immediate and amazing visual change in a young man's facial 'atmosphere' when a he removed his earing and destroyed it.  As with tattoos, the spirit of the age, and not the Holy Spirit, has in recent years, enticed millions of men to start wearing earrings.  It is wise not to go with the flow of the spirit of this age.

One tattooist interviewed for a documentary said that 99% of people who received one tattoo came back for more. That alone should indicate that caution and discernment are needed when so many men follow the spirit of the age.

One Christian leader who wears an earring validates his decision by using the scripture Deuteronomy 15:17 - where male and female slaves who returned to serve their master of their own free will were ceremoniously pinned to the master's door for a moment by an awl through their ear.  This has nothing to do with earrings!          [Return to list]
